Sessions

The Cello has a rich, mellow tone that creates a warm and enveloping sound. It also has a broad range, able to play bass parts, mid and high range melodies. It’s highly expressive and is considered the closest instrument to the human voice. The perfect addition to any score or song (in my very biased opinion!).

I have experience recording in live sessions, music studios, remote locations (including at the top of Moel Famau for a S4C production!) in addition to remote recording sessions at my own home recording studio.

I listen to music from many genres and traditions; classical, pop, rock, film and folk, and enjoy bringing these influences into different playing styles on the cello. I record for classical film composers, musicians and singer-songwriters, working closely in consultation to explore different sounds and emotions the music needs.

In addition to reading music scores, I can create my own parts to your music and / or improvise to the style of your choosing. If you’re looking for a larger sound, I also multi-track different lines using the full range of the cello.

Stiwdio Siencyn

In 2019 I repurposed unused stables and built a music studio, equipped with live and control rooms, soundproofing insulation and 8 channel mixing desk. I offer the space to other local musicians and sit in as recording engineer for their sessions. I took music production modules at University for 3 years, learning recording methods, editing, mixing and mastering tracks.

Where did the name come from? ‘Siencyn’ is the name of the horse that previously occupied the space!
